Three Reasons Why Most Real Estate Websites Fail to Win High Placement on the Search Engines: 1. Nearly everyone competes for the same generic high-traffic keywords; however, there are only 10 first page winners on Google. MLS listings, when properly presented on your website for indexing into the search engines, can automatically generate a tremendous inventory of long-tail keywords that will bring traffic to your site. 2. Nearly all websites fail to make MLS listings visible to the search engines. If listings are not actual web pages of your site, they can’t be used to optimize your site for visibility. Search engines instantly detect when listings are actual pages of your website, versus if they are just links pointing back to the IDX provider’s server. 3. Most realtors fail to organize their websites according to tightly controlled themes, which allow search engines to understand the relevancy of their content. Newer and more advanced IDX applications automatically catagorize listing content by topic (property features), and integrate listings into hand-written community articles.
